Deepwater Well Control

Duration: 5 days

About this course

This program combines team-based scenario exercises on the DS5000 rig floor simulator with classroom sessions where the basic principals of human factors as well as advanced deepwater-related well control concepts are studied. The course content goes beyond basic well control knowledge and includes deepwater-specific topics that have not been previously covered in IWCF and/or IADC certified courses. The team-based scenario exercises are specific to deepwater operations and involve a high level of interaction and teamwork. Delegates will be assigned together in teams and will be faced with several simulated real-life well control related scenarios. The course can be tailored to meet specific client’s needs.

This course has been designed for senior rig crew (assistant driller and above), operator personnel and onshore support teams. Although there is no hard prerequisite, delegates are expected to have basic well control knowledge (IWCF/IADC level 3 or 4):

  • Drillers and assistant drillers
  • Toolpushers
  • Rig Managers
  • Drilling supervisors
  • Drilling Engineers
  • Drilling Managers
  • Operations Managers

Delegates will receive a certificate from Well Academy on completion of the course.
